Emma is a Pharmacy Intern working with both our Regulatory and Quality teams in Dublin
I am studying to be a pharmacist, and as part of my studies, I am currently working as an intern in the Dublin office. For my internship, I was interested in experiencing the work environment outside of retail pharmacy - the route taken by the majority of pharmacy students. Part of my working day in GSK is spent in Regulatory, within Consumer Healthcare, where I make submissions to HPRA and apply for export certificates for countries across the globe for our Panadol and Oilatum products. The other half of my time is spent in the Quality function within the Pharma division. Within this role, I manage product quality complaints, which involves liaising with global manufacturing sites and contacting healthcare professionals in a range of settings (from rural pharmacies to large hospitals).
In both roles, I enjoy communicating with many people from different backgrounds and professions on a daily basis. I have also had the chance to meet people with a similar background to me who have gone into various roles within GSK and learnt how my qualifications can lead down many varied career paths. I have found the environment in GSK really welcoming; I am encouraged to use initiative on projects and complete work to a very high standard. I see it as a place where I can develop my career.
