Charity of the Year

GSK Ireland's Charity of the Year Partnership is a two year charity partnership supported by all five GSK sites and businesses in Ireland.

Directly nominated and voted for by GSK employees, the winning charity receives a minimum donation of €50,000 per annum over the duration of the partnership.

The charity also receives any funds raised during employee ran fundraising events during the year such as bake sales, our annual Wheelie Good Cause and raffles. So far, GSK have worked with the Jack and Jill Foundation and the Irish Hospice Foundation, with employees raising €65,000 in addition to corporate donations.

Our current charity partner is Make a Wish Ireland. We are working with them to help fundraise for 20 wishes over 2016 and 2017. They have one simple aim: they grant the wishes of children aged between 3 and 17 years living with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

What's involved?

Coming on board as a charity partnership is a big commitment on both sides. To be fair to the winning charity, and to ensure that our support makes a real difference to them, this charity becomes the dedicated Charity for GSK in Ireland and with the exception of existing partnerships in place, the sole recipient of any business wide fundraising initiatives

Our ambition is to work in true partnership with our chosen charity so working with them on regular fundraising activities, and ensuring we share their story and engage employees in their work

It's not just about funding: We work with our charity to identify volunteering opportunities where GSK employees can really make a difference either through their volunteering day or using their own skillset to help their cause.
