GSK Ireland to provide 1,700 employees with a wide range of preventative healthcare services

Initiative is part of a preventative healthcare programme for GSK employees all over the world

GSK, one of the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, has launched a worldwide preventative healthcare programme to provide employees and their family members with preventative healthcare services, at low to no cost to themselves. The Partnership for Prevention (P4P) programme aims to ensure that employees across GSK have access to a preventative healthcare package, regardless of their location, job title, or salary. GSK is the first multi-national employer to create and implement a comprehensive preventative healthcare programme across all its locations globally.  

In Ireland, the company employs 1,700 people across four locations - Cork, Dublin, Dungarvan and Sligo. The programme, launching on 1st October 2018, offers all GSK Ireland employees and their families a wide range of health benefits including:

  • Preventative exams for adults and children
  • Cancer screenings for colorectal and skin cancers
  • Cardiovascular and diabetes health
  • Childhood and adulthood immunisations
  • Prenatal care for women 

Preventative healthcare measures are critical at any stage of life, taking many forms – from screenings which expose illness in its early stages to vaccinations that can stop diseases from developing at all.

Each service offered by GSK has been carefully chosen as it has been proven effective in avoiding illness or detecting disease at an early treatable stage. These service choices are also aligned with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). The programme aims to accompany, rather than replace existing preventative healthcare services. For example, regarding childhood vaccinations, the HSE provides Hepatitis B cover from birth from 1 July 2008, through P4P those born before 1 July 2008 can avail of vaccination. Similarly, for meningitis B, the HSE provides cover at birth from September 2016, anyone born before September 2016 is covered by P4P.
