Autumn 2017

  • NUI Galway, Irish Centre for Applied Patient Safety and Simulation (ICPASS)  at University Hospital Galway (UHG) and the Children's Hospital Group (CHG)

A multi-disciplinary training programme to improve paediatric asthma management in the home, in hospital and at the time of discharge. This project will also develop an educational bundle to support further clinical integration.

Respiratory Training at the ASSERT Centre in UCC to design and deliver an educational programme on  state of the art bronchoscopy techniques.

One day conference for Healthcare Professionals on ‘Infections in the Returning Traveller’.

Improving the management of the patient with COPD through skills and drills: multidisciplinary training.

Spring 2017

  • AIDS West 

The development and delivery of an educational programme to upskill medical professionals on recent trends and issues regarding Chemsex.
Awarded Amount: €5,000.00

  • Department of General Practice, University College Cork 

CONCORDAT - InCOrporatiNg ACP intO Routine COPD mAnagementT. This educational programme will address the knowledge and skill gap regarding Advance Care Planning for healthcare professionals working in COPD.

Autumn 2016

  • SIMWEST, Galway University Hospital 

A simulation-based learning programme aimed at improving the teaching and learning of paediatric lumbar puncture techniques for junior doctors.
Awarded Amount: €9,100.00

  • Irish College of General Practitioners

Development of a revision to the ICGP Immunisation eLearning modules to provide updated education for general practitioners and nurses on the 2016 changes to the Irish immunisation schedule.
Awarded Amount: €12,300.00

  • School of Pharmacy, University College Cork

A collaborative project between University College Cork, University Hospital Kerry and the Asthma Society of Ireland to provide a structured continuing professional development framework for pharmacists and physiotherapists involved in asthma treatment
Awarded Amount: €15,000.00 

Spring 2016

  • Asthma Society Ireland

National Inhaler Technique Workshops for Healthcare Professionals in Primary Care; continuation of 2015 project aiming to reach 1,000 HCPs.
Awarded Amount: €25,000.00

  • Irish Pharmacy Union IPU Academy

Development of a course to provide an update on the immunological basis of allergies and allergic reactions. The IPU Academy will deliver this training in 12 to 14 locations nationwide (n=700 max) and via a recorded version of the course on the IPU Academy LMS.

  • RCSI School of Pharmacy

Improving adherence to treatment in patients with chronic respiratory diseases, a multi-disciplinary approach involving pharmacists and physiotherapists. One-day course (n=75) and videos of sessions via website

Course on the management & treatment of BPH for Urology SpRs.

An education and training programme using the principles of deliberate practice and crew resource management to deliver both improvements in technical and non-technical skills in the acute care setting for medical teams and SPRs.
